Applications of High Performance Polymeric Materials in Implant Prosthodontics

Presented by Said Arturo Sánchez, DDS, Specialization in Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry

This presentation introduces new trends in digitally manufactured prosthetic materials and their clinical applications from single unit implant rehabilitations to more complex clinical scenarios involving implant supported reconstructions in extended edentulous spaces and full-arch situations. This lecture will address the main types, properties (biological, physical, and mechanical), potential advantages and limitations of CAD/CAM high performance polymers to assist clinicians in the decision making process of prosthetic material selection for implant rehabilitations.

At the conclusion of this session, attendees should be able to:

  • Recognize the different types of high performance polymeric (HPP) materials for transitional and final implant supported restorations.
  • Understand the potential advantages and indictions of digitally manufactured HPP materials in different clinical scenarios.
  • Know the current scientific evidence regarding this emerging group of materials in implant dentistry.
