Application of Digital Dentistry in Fixed Prosthodontics
Presented by Gurkan Goktug, DMD
Once the natural dentition is lost, it becomes challenging to restore function, phonetics, and esthetics. Many diagnostic measures are required to develop a biomechanically favorable occlusion. A diagnostic waxing is critical because it permits the determination of the desired implant position and distribution. This waxing also becomes a template for the provisional restoration, which in turn, serves as a blueprint for the establishment of esthetics, phonetics, and function in the definitive restorations. Use of digital dentistry improves the accuracy of surgical placement that will aid the better restorative outcomes.
At the conclusion of this session, attendees should be able
to:
- Develop an appropriate treatment plan and evaluate the vertical dimension of occlusion.
- Identify the use of digital technique to improve the restorative outcome.
- Understand use of digital dentistry to design custom abutments and bars/metal substructure for implant supported fixed prostheses.
