The Death of Chairside Conversions: Fully Digital from Surgery to Final
Presented by Conrad Rensburg, ND, NHD
Today’s digital innovations are the glue that unites restorative, surgical, and technical teams into a single, cohesive workflow. The post-surgical conversion process has evolved—gone are the days of time-consuming chairside luting, drilling, and bite registration. Modern workflows eliminate the need for specialized photogrammetry equipment, thanks to a custom smart implant mapping device that orients the intraoral scanner in space and enables highly accurate data capture.
This digitally designed, diagnostically driven conversion prosthesis now doubles as both a healing device and an esthetic prototype, directly influencing the final smile design. By leveraging technology and a team based approach, these once-complex full arch cases become predictable, efficient, and patient friendly.
Technology now empowers a precise, transferrable diagnostic plan. One that forms the foundation for surgical success and esthetic excellence.
At the conclusion of this session, attendees should be able to:
- Capture accurate full arch data with an IO scanner using a custom scan device.
- Deliver a diagnostically driven conversion/healing prothesis without the need for chairside processing.
- Utilize gathered data to restore the final hybrid prosthesis in two appointments.
